The Moose extended their season high winning streak to eight games with a 4-1 come-from-behind victory in Toronto. The Moose moved into sole possession of second place in the North Division standings improving their record to 30-16-7-4.

First Period

Wade Flaherty gets the start in net for the Moose while Justin Pogge starts for the Marlies.

Neither team could get much going to start the period until the Moose turned the puck over in their own zone which turned into two quality scoring chances for the Marlies. First Ben Ondrus blasted a shot from the point that cranked off the post, then in the same possession off of a Harrington point shot Robbie Earl missed a wide open net as he tried to flip the puck over Wade Flaherty.

Chris Harrington coughed up the puck in his own zone where Jason Jaffray stepped into a slapper that Justin Pogge made a nice save on, bailing out his defenceman on the play.

Wade Flaherty made a couple of more saves as the Marlies turned on the pressure in the Moose zone once again before the Moose went right back down and had a chance of their own. Alexandre Bolduc chipped the puck through on the left wing and fired a shot on net that Pogge looked sharp on.

Yannick Tremblay took the first penalty of the game late in the period as he tripped up Alex Foster just inside the Moose blue line.

The Marlies had scored a powerplay goal in their last five games heading into tonight's matchup. The Moose did a nice job of being aggressive on the penalty-kill, holding the Marlies to a few long shots that Wade Flaherty could see clearly.

The first period came to a scoreless conclusion as both Wade Flaherty and Justin Pogge looked good in goal for their teams. The Marlies hold a slight edge in shots 12-11 through 20:00.

Second Period

Lee Goren had a great chance as he was sent in on a partial break but Pogge made a nice toe save to start the second period.

The Moose got their first powerplay chance as Brett Englehardt hooked Jesse Schultz at centre ice 3:27 into period two. They couldn't get much going with the man-advantage however, failing to get a quality shot on net.

Dustin Wood took the second penalty of the game for the Moose as the Marlies put a little pressure on in the Moose zone. Wood was called for holding at 7:35 of the period.

The Moose did another fine job of killing the penalty as they held the Marlies without a shot on their powerplay.

Jason Jaffray without his helmet, broke in 2-on-2 down the right wing with Brad Moran on the far side. Jaffray stopped as he drove the net and fed a pass at the near side of the goal to Moran. Moran had already drifted beyond the goal line so he tried to bank the puck off of Pogge who was sprawled on the ice. The Marlies goaltender managed to hold on to the loose puck, thwarting the best Moose chance of the period.

Jay Harrison took the second Marlies penalty of the game as he went to the box for tripping.

The Moose had great possession in the Marlies zone on the powerplay but couldn't get the puck to the net.

Just as the penalty expired to Harrison, Robbie Earl took the puck in the neutral zone along the boards, carried it across the Moose line and drove to the centre as the Moose defenders gave him some space. Earl walked in a snapped a shot top shelf past Flaherty to open the scoring in the game. The goal came at 16:23 and was assisted on by Jay Harrison.

The Moose got one more powerplay chance before the period ended as Alex Foster took a hooking penalty at 17:48. The Moose could not score with the man-advantage but with just seconds left in the period, Brad Moran picked up his 18th goal of the season to tie it for the Moose. Moran fired a shot from the right boards that rang off the post. The puck deflected off the referee and went into the far corner where Lee Goren fired the puck back out front. The puck defelected again, this time off of Juston Pogge's stick as he sprawled to try and break up the pass, but the puck squeaked out front to Moran who was waiting to whack it into the vacant net, tying the game at one goal apiece with just 0:04 left in the period.

The late goal would send the teams to the locker room tied at ones heading into the third period. The teams are also tied in shots with 17 apiece.

Third Period

Jesse Schultz was sent in all alone versus Justin Pogge but just fired the puck high over the glove side on the Marlies' goal.

J.J. Hunter took a hooking penalty at the 7:00 mark of the period to give the Marlies the first man-advantage of the third.

The Moose penalty kill worked well again, and once again had a good chance right after the penalty had expired. This time Jason Jaffray pounced on a lose puck at his blueline and raced in 2-on-1 with Mike Keane. Jaffray used the Moose captain as a decoy as he fired five-hole on Pogge but the Marlie goaltender made the save.

Off of a face-off in the Toronto zone, Nathan Smith deflected home his 11th of the season from the left-side of the net to put the Moose in front 2-1. The draw went back to Jesse Schultz at the point who spotted Smith wide open at the side of the net where he fired a pass along the ice that Smith re-directed into the back of the net.

Lee Goren used his big body to his advantage as his 17th goal of the season deflected in off him while he was screening Justin Pogge in front of the net. Yannick Tremblay wristed a shot on goal from the point that bounced off Goren and in past Pogge to give the Moose a two goal cushion at 14:18.

With 2:59 left in the third Brett Englehardt took a hooking call to severely hurt the Marlies' chances of making a comeback.

J.J. Hunter fired in an open net goal from his own icing line to ice the game away for the Moose at 19:36.

The Moose improved their record to 30-16-7-4 with 71 points, moving into second place in the North Division. The victory also extended their winning streak to eight consecutive games.
