Referee Jeff Smith called two penalties in the extra frame leaving the teams 3-on-3 where Brian Fahey scored his seventh goal of the season to send the Moose fans home with a sour taste in their mouths. The Moose are now winless in five straight games and have fallen to 22-16-7-4 on the season. The team will not have to wait long for their revenge as they host the Wolves again tomorrow night at the MTS Centre. The Moose will honour Canadian Junior star Jonathan Toews before the game tomorrow and there will also be a post-game autograph session. Game time is 7:30PM.

First Period

Drew MacIntyre is back between the pipes for the Moose tonight after missing the last three contests with a lower body injury.

D-Mac came up big early as he made a nice sliding save inside the first minute to help shake off the rust.

Lee Goren just missed opening the scoring as he fired a wrist shot off the post at at the 3:30 mark of the period on a nice setup from Tommi Santala. Goren was stoned in tight just one minute later, this time by the glove of Fred Brathwaite.

The Moose got the first powerplay opportunity of the game as Wolves forward Steve Martins took a holding penalty at 9:05 back-checking behind the net on Tommi Santala.

Colby Genoway, looking for his first point as a member of the Moose, fed a nice back door pass to Brad Moran who one-timed a shot on Brathwaite, but the Wolves goaltender came up huge as he slid across to rob Moran on the doorstep.

The line of Santala, Schultz and Keane looked very good in the first period as they created some great opportunities in the Wolves zone, keeping the visitors pinned in their own end when ever they were on the ice.

Prestin Ryan took a boarding penalty with :26.6 left in the first to give the Wolves their first powerplay chance of the game.

The Moose lead 12-5 in shots after one period and had by far the better scoring chances as well. Former Winnipeg Jets goalie Freddy Brathwaite came up big when it mattered to keep the game scoreless. Drew MacIntyre also looked sharp in his return, picking up where he left off before his injury.

Second Period

The Moose have 1:34 left to kill on Prestin Ryan's boarding penalty from the first period. The team successfully killed it off but Brad Moran followed it up shortly after as he took a minor for elbowing.

The Moose were once again successful at killing off the leaving Chicago 0-for-3 on the man-advantage.

Alex Edler scored his fourth goal of the season as he absolutely blasted a rocket from the point past Freddy Brathwaite to give the Moose the 1-0 lead. Mike Keane and Maxime Fortunus drew the assists on the goal at 11:28.

Nathan Oystrick scored his tenth goal of the season for the Wolves and his third of the season versus the Moose to tie the game at one goal apiece. The goal came on the powerplay just 2:45 after the Moose had scored to take the lead. Troy Milam and Cory LaRose assisted on the game-tying goal for the Wolves.

The Wolves were assessed a 2:00 bench-minor for too many men at 18:42 to give the Moose their third man-advantage of the game.

The period came to an end with the Moose continuing to lead in shots 21-13 but the score remained tied at 1-1.

Third Period

With the Moose on the powerplay Drew MacIntyre bailed out his defence as he stopped Colin Stuart on a shorthanded breakaway to keep the game tied. Stuart picked off a pass at the Wolves blueline and broke in on the Moose goal. Yannick Tremblay took a hooking penalty as he tried to get back and break up the play.

With the teams playing four-on-four for a brief period Freddy Brathwaite made a fantastic save with his trailing leg as he was sprawling on the ice and looked down and out, keeping the game tied at one.

Mike Brown scored his second goal of the season on a backhand that squeaked throught the pads of Freddy Brathwaite. Brown's only other goal of the season also came against the Wolves on Oct. 24/06.

The Wolves responded quickly once again as Brett Sterling scored his 40th goal of the season to tie the game at two goals apiece. Sterling cleaned up the garbage on a shot by Nathan Oystrick that went off the post and sat waiting in the crease behind Drew MacIntyre. The powerplay marker came at 10:37 of the third.

The Moose continued to put pressure on the Wolves put could not put a third goal past Freddy Brathwaite as the teams skated to a 2-2 draw after 60:00.

Overtime

Referee Jeff Smith called two penalties in overtime, leaving the teams 3-on-3 with less then a minute to go in the extra frame.

Brian Fahey capitalized for the visiting Wolves as he blasted a slapper from the point that beat Drew MacIntyre, extending Manitoba's winless streak to five games, and evening the season series at a win apiece. Derek MacKenzie and Mark Popovic assisted on the game-winning goal with just :14 to play in the overtime period.
