By Travis Kondratuk

Drew MacIntyre played a great game in relief of the injured Wade Flaherty stopping 40 of 42 shots to lead the Moose to their 19th victory of the season. The win moved the Moose into a tie with Rochester for first place in the North Division standings.

First Period

From inside his own blueline, Maxime Fortunus made a beautiful stretch pass to Brad Moran who broke in on a partial breakaway. Rochester netminder Adam Dennis flashed the leather to Rob Moran with his glove. Marc Mancari took a hooking penalty on the play to give the Moose their first powerplay of the game.

The Moose could not capitalize on the man-advantage however and the game remained scoreless through 10:31 of the first.

The Moose appeared to score to take the lead with 2:19 left in the first, but referee Brian Pochmara waved the goal off as Alexandre Bolduc kicked the puck into the net.

With under a minute to go Drew MacIntyre made two unbelievable saves, first stoning Janis Sprukts on a clear-cut breakaway, and then sliding post-to-post to rob Marc Mancari on a wrap-around attempt.

MacIntyre was the difference in the first as he stopped 15 shots in the period to keep the game tied.

Second Period

Mike Keane took an early cross-checking penalty to put the Moose down two men.

Jannik Hansen just stepped out of the penalty box to end the first penalty, when he was hit with a pass that sent him in on a shorthanded breakaway at centre-ice. Hansen managed to outskate the back-checking defender and roofed the puck blocker-side on Dennis to give the Moose the 1-0 lead. The shorthanded goal was Hansen's first of his pro career.

Drew MacIntyre stepped up big again as he kept the puck out on a mad scramble in front of the Moose goal.

Captain Keane made it 2-0 for the home team as he took a nice drop-pass from Jesse Scultz and fired a wrist shot high over the goaltender's glove. The goal came at 5:42 of the second.

MacIntyre continued with his thievery as he robbed Kamil Kreps with a toe save and then gobbled up the rebound in the crease at 11:05.

MacIntyre proved he was human as Anthony Stewart walked across the Moose blueline and wristed an innocent looking shot on net that handcuffed the Manitoba netminder for the first Rochester goal of the night. Andrej Sekera and Martin Lojek drew the assists on stewarts sixth goal of the season.

With Clarke MacArthur in the box the Moose took advantage as Jason Jaffray notched his team-leading 22nd goal of the season. Jaffray took a pass from Brad Moran down low and fired a shot on goal that was stopped by Adam Dennis. The puck bounced up and Jaffray batted the rebound out of mid-air to restore the two-goal lead for the Moose.

Just seconds later Drew MacIntyre stepped up once again as he stopped Michael Ryan on a shorthanded breakaway to keep the momentum for the Moose.

The Moose put in a strong period as they clawed back to outshoot the Amerks 22-12 in the second.

Third Period

Down two goals with 1:08 to go in the game Rochester called their time-out to talk startegy.

The move paid off, as with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Kamil Kreps wristed a shot low-glove-side past Drew MacIntyre to cut the Moose lead to one goal with just over :10 left in the game.

That's as close as the visitors would get however as the Moose held on for the 3-2 victory. The win moves Manitoba into a tie for first place in the North Division standings with Rochester.
