First Period

Ben Simon scored just as a penalty to Prestin Ryan expired to put the Syracuse Crunch up 1-0. Drew MacIntyre stopped the initial shot but as he was stretching to try and corral the rebound Simon came in and stole the puck, flipping it past MacIntyre's outstretched arms.

With the Moose on the powerplay Jason Jaffray fed a soft pass to Yannick Tremblay at the point where he stepped into a booming one-timer that beat Crunch goaltender Tomas Popperle. The game-tying goal was assisted on by Jason Jaffray and Brad Moran at 15:42.

Drew MacIntyre made several nice saves in the first as Syracuse leads 15-10 in shots after one period of play.

Second Period

On a scramble in front of the Crunch net, Tomas Popperle made several saves at the left of the crease but as he was sprawling to try and make another save the rebound squirted loose into the crease and Lee Goren stormed around the net and tapped the rebound in for his 12th goal of the season.

The Moose extended their lead just :37 later as Jason Jaffray notched his 20th goal of the season redirecting a Jesse Schultz feed high over the shoulder of Tomas Popperle. The goal put the Moose up 3-1 6:00 into period two.

The Crunch battled back quickly as Mark Hartigan scored for the second night in a row versus the Moose to cut the lead to 3-2. Hartigan drove hard to the net coming down the left wing, then wheeled around the net beating MacIntyre on the wraparound effort.

Crunch winger Jeffrey Szwez scored his first goal for Syracuse this season as he wristed a shot from the left face-off circle that found its way past Drew MacIntyre. That game-tying goal came just :51 after Hartigan had cut the lead to one. The goal chased Drew MacIntyre from the net as coach Arniel replaced him with Wade Flaherty.

Just 1:22 after the Crunch tied it, Jesse Schultz nearly put the Moose back on top as he broke in all alone on the Crunch net. Schultz fired a shot that beat Popperle but could not beat the cross-bar as his shot clanked off the iron.

Alex Bolduc forced a turnover thanks to a strong fore-check behind the Crunch net, where Lee Goren picked up the loose puck and fired a pass out front to Brad Moran who was streaking in on goal. Moran roofed a one-timer high over Popperle to restore the lead for the Moose. The go-ahead goal came at 13:50 of the second period with Goren and Bolduc drawing the assists.

After a flurry of goals the Moose take a 4-3 lead into the third period trailing Syracuse 24-20 in shots.

Third Period

With Mike Brown in the box for interference, Jason Jaffray stole the puck at his own blueline and skated the length of the ice. Jaffray drove hard to the net and fired a shot off the post, just missing his second shorthanded goal of the season.

The Moose did a great job of slamming the door on the Crunch and not letting them get any really strong scoring chances in the final frame. After losing a close one in OT last night the Moose battled back to win a close one tonight over their North Division rivals.
