Callup Milan Gajic, scored twice and set up Brandon Reid on the empty-netter, as the Moose ended their four-game losing streak by defeating the Peoria Rivermen 4-1 at the MTS Centre. The goals were the first for Gajic as a member of the Moose. The Moose will host the Rivermen again this Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM. First Period

With the Moose enjoying a 2-man-advantage, Lee Goren finished off a beautiful tic-tac-toe passing play to put the Moose up 1-0 on the visiting Peoria Rivermen. With Peoria's Doug Lynch and Ryan Ramsay in the box for separate hooking penalties the Moose were able to set up the powerplay in the Peoria end. After working the puck around nicely Brandon Reid, who was playing the left point on the powerplay, fed a quick pass down low to Jason Jaffray who then one-timed the pass to Lee Goren who was left all alone in the slot and finished off the play by slapping home the first goal of the night. The powerplay marker was Goren's third PPG of the season and seventh overall.

Despite being more than doubled on the shot clock, the Moose made the most of the only man-advantage of the first to lead 1-0 after one period of play.

Second Period

Milan Gajic capitalized on a defensive miscue at the Peoria blueline and broke in all alone on the Peoria net where he snapped a shot through the five-hole of Rivermen netminder Chris Beckford-Tseu for his first goal as a member of the Manitoba Moose. The unassisted goal put the Moose up by two on the Rivermen at 4:20 of the second period.

A scrum developed behind the Moose net and Adam Keefe came out of the pile-up pummeling David Backes. Keefe had Backes' jersey over his head and continued to rain shots down on the Peoria winger, until he crumbled to the ice and the linesmen jumped in.

Patrick Coulombe was checked awkwardly into the boards by Rivermen defencemen Roman Polak, landing head first right in front of the Moose bench. Coulombe stayed down for quite a while but was able to get up and skate off on his own. Polak was assessed a 5:00 major for boarding on the play.

The Moose took advantage on the powerplay once again as Brad Moran fed a nice cross-ice-back-door pass to Milan Gajic who went down to one knee to one-time home his second goal of the game, and give the Moose a 3-0 lead. Lee Goren drew the second assist on Gajic's second goal as a member of the Moose.

Brad Moran took a hooking penalty while the Moose were still on the 5:00 advantage to put the teams at 4-on-4 for a few minutes.

Peoria mangaed to chip into the Moose lead on the 4-on-4 as Rivermen winger Mike Glumac flipped a backhand shot on the Moose net that just slipped past Drew MacIntyre at the far post to get the visitors on the board.

Peoria centre, Konstantin Zakharov took a late holding penalty to put the Moose back on the powerplay. The Moose pressed to score again but Peoria goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu made some nice saves to end the period and keep his team in it.

Third Period

The Rivermen pulled the goalie with a little over a minute to play and Brandon Reid just missed the open net net twice, before finally connecting on a slapper from centre ice to seal the victory for the Moose. The win brings an end to the Manitoba's four-game losing skid.

Drew MacIntyre looked sharp all game, doing a great job controlling the rebounds and directing pucks to the corners to earn his fourth win of the season.

The Moose play host to the Rivermen again this Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM in the second of four games between the teams this season.
