For the second night in a row the Moose went into the third period with a 2-1 lead against the Rochester Americans, and for the second night in a row the visitors scored a late goal to pull out the victory. The loss puts the Moose on a season long four-game losing streak and leaves their record at 0-3-1-0 versus the Americans on the season.

First Period

After setting a season low for shots on goal in a game with 14 last night the Moose were held off the shot clock until the 14:52 mark of the first period tonight. Milan Gajic, just called up from Victoria came out from behind the net with a wrap-around attempt registering the first two shots of the game for the Moose.

Just seconds later Martin Lojek took a cross-checking penalty giving the Moose their first powerplay of the game. The Moose did a great job of moving the puck around down low in the American's zone on the powerplay, when Jason Jaffray came rushing out of the corner to the front of the net, slipping the puck through the legs of Craig Anderson to give the Moose a 1-0 lead. Brad Moran and Lee Goren drew the assists on Jaffray's team leading 15th goal of the season.

Even though the Moose only managed three shots on net in the period they still hold a 1-0 lead after one period of play.

Second Period

With the Moose on the powerplay again, Lee Goren positioned just at the edge of the right face-off circle, rifled a one-timer from Jason Jaffray top shelf on Rochester goalie Craig Anderson to give the Moose a 2-0 lead. Brad Moran got the second assist on the second powerplay goal of the game for the Moose.

So far in the home-stand versus the Amerks, all four Moose goals scored have come on the powerplay, as both goals scored last night also came with the man-advantage.

Rochester forward Stephen Meyer broke in on the right wing and backhanded a shot that just squeaked through the pads of Wade Flaherty to get the Amerks on the board. The Moose lead is down to one goal with 4:00 left in the second.

Martin Lojek picked a fight with Lee Goren at centre ice, and Goren was more than willing to oblige. Goren struggled to get his arm loose, but when he finally did, he started to throw bombs. Goren popped Lojek's helmet off and then landed a few nasty uppercuts, cutting Lojek over the eye. Lojek landed one last good punch that knocked Goren off balance and the two players fell to the ice. Lojek skated straight to the dressing room as he was leaking blood all over the ice. Lojek was assessed an extra 10:00 misconduct for his efforts.

Third Period

Rochester winger Drew Stafford grabbed a rebound in front of the Moose net off of a Kamil Kreps shot, and backhanded it over a sprawling Wade Flaherty to tie the game for the visitors at 15:20 of the third.

The Moose got caught running around in their own zone late in the game and with under 2:00 left Janis Sprukts pounced on a rebound in the slot, turned and fired a shot past a screened Wade Flaherty to give the Amerks the lead. For the second straight game the Americans battled back from a goal down in the third period to take the lead late in the game.

The Moose called their timeout and pulled the goalie for the second straight night, but were unable to tie it up dropping their fourth game in a row. The Moose were outshot by a large margin, 27-17 and now fall two games below .500 on the season with a 10-12-3-2 record.
