First Period

The bulk of the first 10:00 of the hockey game were spent in the neutral zone as neither team managed to get much going offensively.

With the Moose on a powerplay, Jason Jaffray fed a pass down low to a pinching Patrick Coulombe who fired a shot at the net from the icing line. The puck bounced off the Amerks defenceman's skate past goalie Craig Anderson for Coulombe's second goal of the season. The powerplay goal put the Moose up 1-0 at 13:03 of the first period.

Dustin Wood took a tripping penalty with just over 1:00 left in the period to give the Amerks a late powerplay chance. Clarke MacArthur made the most of the chance as he whipped a shot just inside the far post to tie the game for the visitors. Wade Flaherty was completely screened on the play and did not see the shot, in fact he had no idea that the puck had even gone in. The game-tying goal came at 19:10 of the period.

Second Period

Mike Brown just missed on a shorthanded chance as he outraced Rochester defenceman Brandon Smith and fired just wide of the far post.

With Amerks defenceman Andrej Sekera in the box for tripping, the Moose capitalized to go up 2-1. Brandon Reid came skating out of the corner and jammed the puck in on the shortside putting the Moose back in front. Jannik Hansen and Dustin Wood drew the assists on Reid's fourth goal of the season.

Jannik Hansen had the second great shorthanded chance for the Moose in the period, as he was sent in on a partial breakaway but was unable to beat Craig Anderson.

The Moose lead the Americans 2-1 after two periods even though they trail 17-12 in shots.

Third Period

The Moose just missed scoring an insurance marker as Lee Goren chipped a shot that bounced over a sprawling Craig Anderson and started to tickle towards the goal line, but Amerks defenceman Mike Funk just got back to clear the puck off the line.

Patrick Kaleta backhanded a pass from behind the Moose net that Mark Mancari one-timed past Wade Flaherty to tie the game for the visiting Americans. The game-tying goal came at 12:14 of the third period.

The Moose got caught pinching at the Rochester blue line and two American's broke in 2-on-1. Michael Ryan carried the puck across the Manitoba blue line and saucered a pass over the diving Moose defenceman to a waiting Marc Mancari, who blasted the puck past Wade Flaherty before he could slide across. The go-ahead goal came at 18:04 with Dylan Hunter drawing the second assist.

The Moose came right back and almost tied the game as J.J. Hunter wristed a shot from the left hand boards that Craig Anderson came out to the top of the crease to make the toe save on. The rebound came right to Mike Brown who looked to have a wide open net but fired the puck square off the post and out where Anderson smothered the rebound, preserving the one-goal lead for the Americans.

Scott Arniel pulled Wade Flaherty with just over a minute to play but the Moose were unable to get control of the puck in the Rochester zone.

The only salvation for the Moose fans came when Marc Mancari broke in all alone on the open net with a guaranteed hat-trick goal in his pocket and he fired the puck wide from 10 feet away.

The Moose lost their chance to gain ground on the Rochester Americans with the 3-2 loss. The Moose were badly outshot 27-14 in the game.
