Manitoba played a solid road game to keep their perfect record intact in Philadelphia. The top line of Jason Jaffray, Brad Moran and Lee Goren was on the ice for all three goals, collecting seven points between them. The Moose surrendered the first goal of the game, but then shut the door thanks to 28 saves by Wade Flaherty. The Moose continue their road trip as they head back to Hershey tomorrow, game time is 6:00PM CDT.

First Period

The Phantom's fourth ranked powerplay got the first man-advantage of the night as Jannik Hansen took a 2:00 high-sticking penalty just 1:35 into the game. The Moose were able to kill off the penalty successfully.

At 4:33 of the period, Ryan Potulny fired a shot on net from a bad angle coming down the left hand boards, the rebound came out to Gino Pisellini who was able to slap home his first AHL goal, putting the hometown Phantoms up 1-0. Nate Guenin was awarded the second assist on the goal.

Jason Jaffray fired home a short pass from Brad Moran to collect his 14th goal of the season and tie the game for the Moose. Scott Munroe gave up a juicy rebound off a hard point shot from Yannick Tremblay. The puck bounced right to Brad Moran who fed a quick pass to Jason Jaffray in the slot who one-timed the puck past Munroe for the game-tying goal.

Lee Goren attempted a strong wrap-around from behind the Philly net. He continued to jam at the puck and it squirted loose in the crease where Brad Moran whacked the puck home to put the visiting Moose up 2-1. Jason Jaffray drew the second assist on the go-ahead goal at 13:52 of the period.

Jason Jaffray back-checking hard in his own end layed a hard hit on Philly forward Denis Tolpeko behind the Moose net. Tolpeko stayed down for several minutes as he split his nose in the collision with Jaffray and looked dazed.

The Phantoms hold a huge lead in shots 16-6 after one period, but trail 2-1 on the scoresheet.

Second Period

At the 8:17 mark of the period, Niko Dimitrakos took the first penalty for the home-team, a 2:00 interference call.

The Moose worked the puck around nicely to start the powerplay but couldn't beat Munroe in the Philly zone. Wade Flaherty was called on to make a nice sliding save as the Phantoms had a 2-on-1 break shorthanded with :30 left in the Moose man-advantage. The Phantoms were able to kill the remainder of the penalty without incident.

The first bit of animosity appeared at the midway point of the period as Marc-Andre Bernier and Nate Guenin dropped the gloves behind the Philly net. Both players threw a couple of punches but it turned into more of a wrestling match and both players fell to the ice where the linesmen stepped in.

Both teams had their share of opportunities but the goaltenders kept the score the same after two periods of play. The Moose outshot the Phantoms 16-5 in the second frame.

Third Period

With :05 left on a Moose powerplay, Brad Moran passed the puck from the corner to Yannick Tremblay at the point. Tremblay blasted a shot that found its way past Scott Munroe who was screened by Jason Jaffray in front of the Philly net. Lee Goren drew the second assist on the goal at 14:35 of the third.

Philadelphia called their timeout with just over a minute left to try and get themselves organized for a last minute surge, but the Moose were able to shut the door and earn their second consecutive road win.

The Moose played the game slightly shorthanded as Rick Rypien and Tyler Bouck were called up to Vancouver and the returning Jesse Schultz was unable to make it to Philadelphia in time for the game. Mike Brown sat on the bench to give the Moose 16 players but did not play a single shift as he was nursing a lower body injury.

A solid game gets the current road trip off to a 2-0 start. They will head to Hershey tomorrow before returning to Philadelphia to close out the road trip on Sunday afternoon.

Moose Scratches: Alex Edler, Tyler Bouck, Rick Rypien, Jesse Schultz, Nathan Smith, Joe Rullier
