The Rochester Americans remain undefeated at home, but the Moose can be proud of their effort as they stole a point from the league leaders on the road. Jesse Schultz scored two goals to give him 50 for his career, none bigger than the game-tying goal with :42 left in the game to send it to overtime. The Americans scored just :13 into the extra frame, moving their record to 8-0 at the Blue Cross Arena this year.

First Period

The game started off a little ragged as there were no less than half a dozen whistles inside the first two minutes. Both teams received their first penalties against in that span.

Jesse Schultz potted his third goal of the season on Manitoba's third shot of the game to give the Moose the early lead. The goal came while the teams were 4-on-4 at 5:20 of the first. Brandon Reid and Joe Rullier drew the assists on the goal, which now leaves Schultz one goal shy of 50 on his AHL career.

The Americans were down for a short period but battled back quickly to take the lead on two quick goals near the midway point of the period. Czech defenceman Martin Lojek scored his first goal of the season at 10:18 and then just :22 later Kamil Kreps scored to put the home team in front 2-1.

Neither team could muster much offensively after that point and the period ended with the Americans holding the slim one goal lead on the Moose.

Second Period

Both teams got some chances to test their special-teams play as both sides took turns taking penalties. However, penalty killing won out over power play for both squads as neither team was able to score in the middle frame.

Third Period

Clarke MacArthur took a long lead pass down the left-side boards and danced around one of the Moose defenders at the blueline before firing a shot high over the glove of Dany Sabourin to give the Americans a 3-1 lead in the third. The goal came just as the power play had expired to Shaun Heshka for interference. Brandon Smith and Janis Sprukts drew the assists on MacArthur's goal at 6:30.

The Moose got themselves within a goal as the powerplay struck for the first time of the night. Brad Moran scored his sixth goal of the season by walking off the right side boards, faking a shot, and then stepping into the slot and wristing a shot high over the blocker of Craig Anderson. The goal came at 12:09 with Jaffray and Fortunus getting the assists on the goal. This marked the sixth straight game that the Moose have scored a powerplay goal.

Jesse Schultz picked an amazing time to score his 50th AHL goal, tying the game with only :42 left in the game. Schultz fed Jason Jaffray a nice pass sending him into the Amerks zone where Jaffray drew two defenders in before backhanding a nice pass to Schultz, completing the give-and-go. Schultz then fired a shot high over the blocker of Craig Anderson to tie the game for the visiting Moose.

The last :42 ran off the clock without event and the teams would need overtime to decide a winner. The late goal by Schultz earned the Moose at least one point in a building where the points don't come easy.

Overtime

Unfortunately for the Moose, the Americans struck early in the extra frame to keep their record perfect at home. Kamil Kreps scored his second goal of the game from the top of the crease just :13 into overtime. Kreps took a feed from Daniel Paille from the left corner behind the Moose net, and fired a shot high over the glove of Dany Sabourin to seal the victory for the home team and move their record to 8-0 at the Blue Cross Arena this season.

The Moose can hold their heads high though, as they battled back with two late goals in the third period to earn a single point in the standings. The Moose record now moves to 5-8-2-2 on the year.
