The Wilkes-Barre Penguins scored three unanswered goals in the third period to steal another game from the Manitoba Moose. The Moose came into the third with a 3-1 lead but were unable to hang on as the Penguins proved why they are first in the East Division. The Moose pulled Drew MacIntyre with just over a minute left but were unable to get close to the Penguins net and dropped another game to Wilkes-Barre, the third this season.

First Period

Jason Jaffray took the first penalty of the game at 1:18, a two minute tripping call.

Tyler Bouck exercised a little payback on Ryan Stone for scoring the shootout winner last night, when the two squared off at centre ice. Bouck held his own against the larger Stone and eventually tackled him down to the ice. Both players were assesed 5:00 fighting penalties.

Nathan McIver and Wade Skolney got into the second scuffle of the night at 14:31 of the first. Skolney lost his balance and McIver fed him a steady diet of rights in the process before the linesman stepped in to break it up. Both players got five for fighting, unfortunately Mike Keane was called for interference on the play as well to put the Penguins back on the power play.

Connor James missed on a wraparound on the that had Drew MacIntyre beat at the right post, but the puck slid right through the crease and harmlessly into the far corner. The Moose were able to kill off the remainder of the penalty and were awarded with one of their own shortly after.

Stephen Dixon took a penalty at 8:16 and Matt Carkner another at 8:56 to put the Moose on a 5-on-3 advantage. The Moose were unable to capitalize only managing a few scoring opportunites and a single shot on net. The Penguins did a nice job of keeping the shots to the outside and also blocked a few shots on the penalty kill.

The visitors took the lead when Stephen Dixon knocked a clearing attempt out of mid-air with his stick, gained control of the puck and back-handed a weak shot that beat MacIntyre at the left post giving the Penguins a 1-0 lead. The unassisted goal at 12:02 was Dixon's second goal of the season for the Penguins.

The entire Moose team was noticeably aggravated with Ryan Stone as they bumped him every chance they could. If nothing else the Moose intensity level was significantly higher for the second game of this series.

As the first period wound down, a small skirmish developed down behind the Wilkes-Barre net. Everything seemed to settle but before both teams could make their way to their dressing rooms Nathan McIver and Wade Skolney decided to dance again. Unfortunately for Skolney even though he didn't slip this time, the result was similar as McIver looked to get the upperhand.

The period finished with the Moose leading in shots 9-6 but trailing on the scoreboard 1-0.

Second Period

Jesse Schultz fired a puck that went off of the cross bar and Jeff Deslauriers lost sight of it. The puck dropped straight down into the crease where Rick Rypien jumped on the rebound poking it into the open net at 3:13. The goal was Rypien 's third of the season and second in two days.

With Rob Schremp in the box for tripping, the Moose had a great chance just as the power play was about to expire. Jeff Deslauriers made a great glove save with a huge pile of bodies in front of him to keep the game tied at 1.

Joe Rullier took a boarding
Goren made a great play to clear the puck out of the zone having lost his stick, he gloved the puck out of the zone where Rullier almost managed to beat Jeff Deslauriers to the puck , but the Penguins gaolie came out of his net to upend Rullier and clear the puck out of harms way.

Lee Goren got his first goal of the season as he fired a shot that beat Deslauriers five hole, when Jason Jaffray fed him a nice pass from behind the Penguins net. Nathan McIver got the second assist on the goal at 18:51 to give the Moose the 2-1 lead.

Only seconds later the two combined on another goal, but this time Goren fed a pass out to Jaffray who jammed the puck past the goalie at the left post just as time expired putting the Moose up by two after two periods.

Third Period

Jaffray tried to add to his goal total on the year as he just misfired on a one-time effort from the slot. The line of Jaffray, Goren and Hansen continues to work well together.

Goren took a penalty, and just as time ran out on the power play Erik Christensen took a pass from the boards and walked out in front, backhanding a shot past the helpless MacIntyre at 3:29 to bring the visitors within a goal. Tom Gilbert and Ryan Stone drew the assists on Christensen's fourth goal of the year.

Robbie Schremp and Erik Christensen combined on a nice two on one, leaving Drew MacIntyre with no chance once again. Schremp came across the Moose blueline down the right hand boards and fed a beautiful cross-ice pass to Christensen for his fourth goal of the season and second of the game to tie it for the Penguins. Kyle Brodziak got the second assist on the goal at 9:51 of the third.

Mike Brown, trying to gain some momentum back for his team got into a skirmish with Wade Skolney behind the Moose net. However he got a little over-zealous and started throwing punches drawing an extra two minutes for roughing.

The Penguins made the Moose pay as Drew MacIntyre made a terrific save off Daniel Carcillo directly in front of the Moose net but the rebound came right to Kyle Brodziak in the slot to the left of the goal and he rattled the puck through the pads of MacIntyre. The goal gave the Penguins a 4-3 lead.

The three unanswered goals by the Penguins in the third period were enough to steal another game from the Manitoba Moose. The Moose pulled Drew MacIntyre with just over a minute left but were unable to get close to the Penguins net and dropped another game to Wilkes-Barre, the third this season.
