Mike Keane and Jason Jaffray scored back-to-back shorthanded goals in the third period to steal the victory in Chicago. Jaffray notched four goals and Keane added a pair while Mike Brown potted his first of the year in the win. The Moose trailing 4-2 in the third, scored five unanswered goals in the final frame to give the Moose their third win of the season and improve their record to 3-4-1-0.

First Period

Rookie Jannik Hansen took an early hooking penalty at 51 seconds to put the home team on the power play. Unfortunately for the Moose, the Wolves Kyle Wanvig wasted no time as he scored his first goal of the season 19 seconds into the penalty to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Jason Krog and Joey Crabb got the assists on the goal, where the Wolves passed the puck around well allowing Warnvig to knock home a cross-crease pass that Wade Flaherty had no chance on.

Jason Jaffray took a hooking penalty at 8:15 to put the Wolves back on the power play. Once again Chicago made them pay as Darren Haydar scored his team-leading 7th goal of the season for the Wolves. Flaherty made the initial save but the Moose did a poor job of clearing the front of the net and Haydar had several whacks at the puck before he finally knocked it across the goal-line.

The Wolves 2-goal lead was short lived, as the line of Lee Goren, Jannik Hansen and Jason Jaffray put a nice shift together to tie the score in a span of 26 seconds. The first goal came as Jaffray polished off a nice pass from Goren right between the hash-marks, slapping the puck into the yawning cage. The second came right after the subsequent face-off where Jaffray walked across the Chicago blueline and snapped a shot past Wolves netminder Michael Garnett. The goals were Jaffray's third and fourth goals of the year to tie him for the team lead in that category with Brad Moran.

The Moose took yet another penalty to give Chicago the man-advantage, only twenty seconds after the Moose had tied it. Nathan Oystrick scored on a one-timer as he took a cross-ice pass from Darren Haydar at 13:10. The goal came on only the 8th shot of the game for the Wolves, although Flaherty could not be faulted on any of the three goals.

The power play was the big difference as the Wolves scored on three of their five chances in the first period to give them a 3-2 lead at the break.

Second Period

The Moose successfully killed off the remainder of Alex Edler's high-sticking infraction late in the first period which had 1:19 left on it.

The pace of the game started to pick up as both teams were skating hard and generating some nice offensive chances, but both goalies were up to the task to keep the score unchanged.

Chicago netted their first even-strength goal of the game as Nathan Oystrick scored his second goal of the game at 7:01 of the third period. Steve Martins and Brian Sipotz assisted on the goal that saw Oystrick slap a bouncing puck through the five-hole on Wade Flaherty, giving the home side a 4-2 lead.

The Moose continued to get into penalty trouble as with Lee Goren already in the box for slashing, Mike Keane took another penalty to put the Wolves on a 5-on-3 advantage. Luckily the Wolves took a few penalties of their own to negate the Moose penalties and put the Moose on a brief power play of their own.

The Moose were unable to beat Michael Garnett in the second and the Wolves took a two-goal lead into the third period.

Third Period

Wade Flaherty made some nice saves early in the third to keep his team within striking distance.

In a bit of a home-coming for Mike Brown, he scored his first goal of the season at 5:15 of the third to get the Moose within a goal. Brown grew up just outside Chicago and had several frends and family at the game. Dustin Wood and Jannik Hansen assisted on the goal.

Lee Goren and Jason Jaffray combined once again as Jaffray scored the hat-trick goal to tie the game at four goals apiece. Goren fed a nice pass to Jaffray that the forward blasted past Michael Garnett on the 25th shot of the game for the Moose.

Mike Keane scored the first shorthanded goal of the season for the Moose to put the Moose up 5-4 in the third period. Nathan Smith had taken the first penalty of the third period at 11:11 to give the Wolves another power play opportunity, their eighth of the game. But as luck would have it Keane pounced on an errant puck and broke in on a shorthanded breakaway, beating Michael Garnett to give the Moose their first lead of the game.

Jason Jaffray scored his fourth goal of the game, shorthanded no less to put the Moose up 6-4 at 16:18 of the third. Jaffray scored the second shorthanded goal in a row for the Moose as he and Tyler Bouck broke in shorthanded on the Chicago net. Jaffray beat Garnett once again giving the Moose a two-goal lead.

The Wolves pulled Michael Garnett with 1:22 left in the period as they pressed to try and get a goal. The Moose were able to stave off the pressure and with four tenths of a second left on the clock, Mike Keane scored his second goal of the third period into the empty net to salt the game away for the Moose. Nathan Smith and Prestin Ryan drew the assists on the goal at 19:59. The Moose scored five unanswered goals in the third period to earn their third victory of the season, and keep the Wolves winless at home this year.
