Scott Reid earned his first career AHL shutout as he made 24 saves, many of them of the spectacular variety in the 2-0 victory for the Admirals. The Moose had several great chances to tie the game but Reid was able to stifle every Moose scoring opportunity. The second goal was into the empty net as the Moose had pulled the goalie to try and score the equalizer.

First Period
The Moose got an early power play as Daniel Widing took a hooking penalty at 1:26 of the first period. However the Moose were not able to get any sustained pressure and the Admirals killed off the penalty without giving up a shot.
About a minute later the Admirals were able to capitalize on some pressure of their own. Paul Brown scored on a strange play as the initial shot came from behind the goal-line which caused Drew MacIntyre to come away from his post and somehow the puck managed to find its way through to the back of the net. Cal O'Reilly and Ville Koistinen got the assists on the goal at 5:15 of the period.
At 5:52 just seconds after the Moose fell behind 1-0 Prestin Ryan gave the Admirals a glorious opportunity to take a strangle-hold on the game as he took two minor penalties, one for kneeing and one for charging to give the home team a four minute power play.
Even though the Admirals were able to keep the pressure on the Moose, spending almost the entire four minutes in the Moose zone they were unable to get anything past Drew MacIntyre. The Moose goaltender made the saves when he needed to including a nice pad save on the doorstep to keep the Moose within a goal.
Manitoba was able to kill off the four-minute advantage successfully and were granted another power play of their own when Ville Koistinen took a tripping penalty at 9:29 of the first.
The Moose were able to generate a few opportunities but could not get the puck through to the net, as the Admirals killed off another Moose power play without incident.
The best for the Moose came at around the fifteen minute mark when Jason Jaffray stepped into a shot that Milwaukee goaltender Scott Reid was able to get his pad on to keep his team on top.
The rest of the first period was played mainly in the neutral zone as both teams struggled to get any quality offensive chances in the opponents end. The period ended with the home-town Admirals leading 1-0.
Second Period
The Admirals got an early chance as rookie Jannik Hansen gave up the puck in his own zone where Brandon Segal fired a shot that Drew MacIntyre made a diving save on.
Only seconds later Tyler Beechey took a hooking penalty to give the Admirals another power play opportunity. As the Moose were killing the first penalty Prestin Ryan got called for his third penalty of the game, a hooking penalty, putting the Admirals on a two-man advantage.
The Admirals looked good on their power play as they fired several shots on the Moose net. Drew MacIntyre came up with some spectacular saves, including a sliding glove save that robbed the Admirals of a certain goal. The Admirals kept up the pressure in Moose zone where Rich Peverley misfired on a wide-open goal. The Admirals then cranked a shot off of the post just prior to the penalty expiring.
Jason Jaffray, Jesse Schultz and Brandon Reid had an excellent shift in the Milwaukee zone as they wreaked havoc with some good passing and strong fore-checking. Brandon Reid was robbed by the Admirals Scott Reid as Jaffray fed a nice pass from behind the net to Schultz who found Reid all alone at the side of the net, but the Milwaukee netminder was able to slide across to make the save on his like-named opponent.
The Moose were then called for two many men, putting the Admirals back on the power play. Jesse Schultz served the penalty for the Moose.
Just as the Moose penalty was about to expire the Admirals Ville Koistinen took a clipping penalty when he hit one of the Moose players below the knees with a check. But 24 seconds into the Moose power play Prestin Ryan took his fourth penalty, this time for tripping to put the teams 4-on-4 for just over a minute.
Mike Keane and Jesse Schultz had a great opportunity on the 4-on-4 opportunity. Keane and Schultz broke in on a 2-on-1, as Keane carried the puck across the Milwaukee blueline he fed a pass to Schultz who made a nice move to beat the Admirals defender and tried to make a return pass to Keane who was open heading to the Milwaukee net, unfortunately the pass just missed and the Moose just missed on the equalizer.
The physical play stepped up at that point as both teams started to throw some hard hits. Mike Keane was on the receiving end of a hard check that sent the former Moose captain to the ice, but Tyler Bouck returned the favour as he levelled Admiral defender Bryan Young against the end boards.
The Moose then put together another good series of scoring chances as first Tyler Beechey, then Mike Keane and finally Marc-Andre Bernier were all stoned by Scott Reid as he kept his team up by a goal. Bernier was looking for his first point of the season but Reid made a nice glove save to rob him and keep the home team in the lead.
Drew MacIntyre was doing equally well at the other end for the Moose as he stacked the pads on Brandon Segal as he broke in all alone on the Moose net. Rich Peverly followed up on the rebound but MacIntyre was able to make that save too and keep his team within a goal.
The second period ended scoreless, with the Admirals ahead by 1.
Third Period
Right after the puck was dropped to start the third, Mike Brown tried to spark his Moose team-mates as he got into a fight with Kelsey Wilson of the Admirals. Not a lot of punches were thrown as both players wrestled in front of the Milwaukee bench before the linesmen stepped in to break it up.
Tyler Bouck took an interference penalty as he skated hard to the Admirals net looking for a rebound at 5:25, but luckily Brandon Segal took an interference penalty of his own on Prestin Ryan only thirty seconds later to eliminate the Milwaukee power play.
The Admirals were assessed a bench minor for too many men at 8:56, and the Moose line of Nathan Smith, Brandon Reid, Jesse Schultz, Alex Edler, and Joe Rullier put a terrific shift together on the power play for the Moose. Unfortunately the line did everything but score as they kept the puck in the Milwaukee zone for the entire two minutes but could not get the puck past Scott Reid.
The Admirals continued to give the Moose every opportunity to get back in the game as Ramzi Abid took an interference penalty to put the Moose back on the power play. Scott Reid stepped up for the Admirals again as this time Jason Jaffray had a great chance to even the game, firing a one-timer that Reid was able to slide across on to maintain the one-goal lead for the home squad.
The Moose pressed at the end of the game to try and tie the contest, eventually pulling netminder Drew MacIntyre. Unfortunately the Moose couldn't get the puck under control in the Admiral zone. After misfiring on the open Moose net on a few occassions Milwaukee forward Rich Peverly snapped a shot that went off both posts and then went in off of Jesse Schultz's skate to seal the game for the Admirals.
Jesse Schultz fired the puck into the stands in disgust and was handed a ten minute misconduct penalty at 19:57 of the third. The loss marked the second time this season that the Moose were held scoreless by their opponent. Last Friday the Moose were also shutout in their home-opener by the Philadelphia Phantoms, 3-0. The Moose season record now stands at 2-4-1-0 and their road record is 1-3-1-0.
