Both teams started the game with a steady pace playing the first six minutes with only a couple of stoppages. Lee Goren was forced into a hooking penalty minutes in, after a nice cross-ice pass found the stick of a Marlies forward. The Moose killed the penalty easily allowing Toronto only one shot from just inside the blue line.

Midway through the first Manitoba had a great chance to get on the scoresheet as Jesse Schultz streaked through the middle of the Marlies zone and snapped a shot that Aubin got a glove to and deflected over the net.

With eight minutes to play in the first frame the Moose led the shout count 7-2.

Flaherty made a great pad save on a Brett Engelhardt shot just as the first period was concluding to keep the game scoreless after one. At the end of the period Manitoba led the sot count 12-4.

Action turned physical with five minutes played in the second as Mike Brown and Dominic D'Amour dropped the gloves in front of the Marlies net. Both threw a half-dozen shots with neither landing a crucial blow as the linesmen broke it up.

Goren proved why he is a welcomed addition to the Moose powerplay midway through the second as he jumped on a big rebound and backhanded it passed a sprawled out Aubin.

With 8:35 to play in the second the Moose were outplaying and outshooting the Marlies 23-8.

The Moose took their sixth powerplay of the game with 5:42 to play in the second after Alexandre Burrows was hooked down heading to the net by Shaun Landolt. The best chance of the powerplay came as Jaffray spotted Balej streaking to the front of the net but Balej wasn't able to get enough wood on it to put it past Aubin.

The Marlies took a four minute powerplay with just under a minute to play in the second after an initial Bayda penalty Darby mixed it up in the corner and was given a double-minor for roughing. The second period expired with the score 1-0 and the shots 29-9 both in favour of the Moose.

The Moose killed off the remaining minutes of the Darby double-minor to start the third period giving Toronto only two shots on net.

The Moose took a seven minute powerplay with five minutes gone in the third after Marc Moro was called for a roughing penalty he proceeded to spear Burrows after the whistle and received an additional five minutes for spearing and a game misconduct.

The Marlies continued with their penalty woes as Martin Sagat was given two minutes for holding. Manitoba played the first minute of the two man advantage without a major scoring opportunity until Toronto took another penalty with Battaglia being called for hooking.

Still up two men the Moose peppered Aubin with shot after shot but the Marlies netminder continued to shine as the minor penalty to Battaglia expired.

The major penalty to Moro expired with Manitoba outshooting the Marlies 36-14.

The powerplay switched sides with only 4:32 left in the game as Craig Darby took a holding penalty.

But the extra man wasn't enough to get the Marlies that much needed goal, as the Moose killed the penalty and then the game, finishing on top 1-0. The final shot tally was an impressive 42-16 for the Moose.
