The Moose picked up where they left off from last night with a powerplay goal. Ryan Bayda stole the puck from the Crunch defencemen, catching the Syracuse goaltender out of position, and threw it in front to Balej who jammed it into an empty net.
Action heated up early in the first as Rick Rypien gave Tyler Kolarik a healthy dose of left fist after Kolarik got too close to Flaherty. Kolarik got himself up three times only to have Rypien deliver a couple more jabs. Rypien was given an extra two minutes for roughing.
Syracuse was able to tie things up on the ensuing powerplay as took advantage of a bad Moose line change with a nice tic-tac-toe play ending with Andrew Murray tipping the puck over Flaherty's right shoulder.
The Crunch took the lead on a two-man advantage with 6:35 to play in the first as Mark Hartigan scored on a wrap-around after a nice individual effort.
Seconds after Jozef Balej wired a slap-shot off the cross-bar on the powerplay, Sven Butenschon decided to try one of his own as he blistered a shot from the point that Ayers glove side.
The first period expired with the score knotted at two and the Crunch outshooting the Moose 12-6.
The Moose mounted some great pressure on the powerplay with five minutes gone in the second as the worked the puck around and forced Ayers into five nice saves.
Syracuse netted their third powerplay goal of the game with just under 13 minutes to play in the second as Brett Nowak jumped on a rebound in front and swept the puck passed Flaherty.
Manitoba got into some penalty trouble with six minutes to play in period after Burrows was called for high-sticking and Keane for holding. With some good penalty killing from unusual sources in Balej and Bayda, the Moose prevented Syracuse from a fourth powerplay goal.
Alexandre Bolduc made an immediate impact in his first game as a Manitoba Moose; On the powerplay Bolduc was able to walk out from the corner and snap a shot passed Mike Ayers.
The second period finished with the score tied at three and shots 20-19 for the Moose.
Flaherty and the Moose were forced to kill an eighth Syracuse powerplay with five minutes played in the third as the Crunch turned on the pressure forcing Flaherty into a half-dozen saves.
Moments after the Moose penalty had expired the Crunch took the lead as Nowak spotted Konsorada out in front who back-handed it over Flaherty.
Minutes later Syracuse went up two after Flaherty mishandled a puck allowing Greg Mauldin to steal the puck behind the net and bank it in off of Flaherty's skate.
The Moose drew within one with 8:44 to play in regulation as Jason Jaffray made a pretty pass to find Sven Butenschon cutting to the net; Butenschon made a nice deke and snapped it passed Mike Ayers.
The Moose didn't help their own comeback cause as Rick Rypien was given a five-minute major for charging at 12:27.
The Crunch almost immediately took advantage of the five minute powerplay as Ben Simon grabbed a big rebound off the left pad of Flaherty and roofed it for his eighth of the season.
Syracuse iced the game with 2:43 to play on a two-man advantage as Greg Mauldin threw a puck in front that took a weird bounce and went in off of Flaherty's leg.
