In a back and forth game that featured a second period hat-trick by Jozef Balej, it was Manitoba that fell short as Rochester took the 6-5 win.

Ryan Bayda had a great chance to put the Moose up with just under five minutes played in the first. Mojzis worked the puck around to Darby behind the Rochester goal, who spotted a streaking Bayda in front. Leighton came up with a nice pad save to keep the game scorelss.

With seven minutes gone in the first, the Moose dominated the play leading the shot count 5 to 1.

The first penalty of the game didn't come until the 8:58 mark of the first as Rochester's Dufresne was called for interference. A great Rochester penalty kill resulted in the Moose 0 for 1 on the powerplay and without a shot.

Rochester notched the first goal of the game after some pressure in the Moose zone, Ken Magowan found Drew Larman in front, who was able to get enough on it to sneak it through Flaherty's five hole.

The first period finished with the Moose down 1-0, but outshooting the Amerks 17-9.

The second period started off with some fireworks as Jimmy Roy and Greg Jacina went at it with eight seconds gone in the second. As soon as the play resumed Moscevsky and Rochester's McMorrow dropped the gloves. The Roy and Jacina tilt was fairly even but McMorrow got the better of Moscevsky in the second fight.

Rochester went two up minutes later on the powerplay as the Moose failed to clear the puck on a rebound and Jiri Novotny was able to shelf it for his seventh of the season.

Manitoba responded shortly after on a weird goal as Balej streaked down the right wing and wristed a puck on net that fooled Leighton and hit the top right corner.

Less than a minute later it was again Balej who tied the game up on a similar play as Rochester was caught on a bad line change. Fortunus spotted Balej on the Rochester blue line; Balej took a step in from the blue line and wired a slap shot passed Michael Leighton.

At the 6:02 mark of the second, Rochester again took the lead after a big pad save by Flaherty bounced right on the stick of Stefan Meyer who deposited it into the empty net.

Rochester took back their two goal lead on the powerplay with just under seven minutes to play after a scramble in front of Flaherty as Globke was able to poke home his first of the season.

Manitoba was able to get within one goal on a two man advantage as Rochester took two quick minors. Bieksa ripped a slap shot from the point that beat Leighton blocker side.

Jozef Balej again tied the game up on another odd play as the puck was redirected in by a Rochester defenceman as Balej tried to feed a pass across the slot.

The second period finished with the game knotted at four and the shots 28-23 for the Moose.

The Moose took their seventh powerplay of the game at 3:08 of the third after Globke was gated for tripping. The Moose were unable to get anything going during this powerplay, but were given a second chance as Dan Focht was given two minutes for tripping just as the previous Rochester penalty had expired. The result was the same however, as the Moose were unable to mount any pressure in the Amerk's zone.

Rochester took their third lead of the game on a pretty goal midway through the third as Matt Hendricks feathered a pass across the slot to Drew Larman who put it passed a sliding Wade Flaherty.

With six minutes to play in regulation the Mose led the shot count 31-29.

The Moose were all set to take a powerplay with 3:21 left to play as Flaherty scurried off of the ice for the extra attacker. The Moose controlled the puck but then were whistled down as Mike Keane was also given a penalty for interference so the teams skated four on four for two minutes. Manitoba dominated the play looking for the equalizer and it was Alex Burrows that found it as he picked up the puck at the side of the net and shelfed a backhand over the left shoulder of Leighton.

Rochester answered right back to regain the lead with 1:28 to play in the game. Marc Mancari streaked down the left wing and was able to pick up his own rebound on the initial shot and poke it home.

The Moose pulled Flaherty for the last minute of play but could not muster any pressure in the Rochester zone as the Amerks pulled out a 6-5 victory.
