The first penalty of the game went to the Bulldogs as Johnathan Aitken ran Jesse Schultz into the boards and was gated for holding. The Moose were unable to create any pressure in the Bulldogs zone and the powerplay expired with one Moose shot on goal.
The Moose struck first on the powerplay as a Hamilton player lost his stick, Bieksa snapped a shot from the point that Burrows got a stick on in front and tipped it passed Yann Danis.
Hamilton answered right back on the powerplay after a Butenschon interference penalty as Locke took the puck at the side of the net and threw it in front for Jacques, who redirected it passed a helpless Wade Flaherty.
With 6:31 to play in the first the shots were 7 to 3 in favour of the Moose.
The game took a physical turn with just under four minutes to play in the first as Yuri Moscevsky and Mathieu Roy dropped the mitts. Moscevsky landed a good right hand early that stunned Roy and had him holding on for the rest of the tilt. Offsetting penalties followed.
Kevin Bieksa took exception to a big hit by JS Jacques on Nathan McIver and the two dropped the gloves. Jacques started by shoving Bieksa who returned the favour with a jersey over the head and a half dozen solid right hands. Both were assessed fighting majors at 16:52.
The first period expired with the score tied at one and the shots 9-4 for the Moose.
The Moose started the second with a bang as Mojzis took a pass from Darby at the blue line and wristed a shot through a screen in front and in for his fourth of the year.
Manitoba went on a 4 on 3 advantage with 13 minutes to play in the second. Sven Butenschon gave the Moose their second powerplay goal of the game as he took a pass from Mojzis and snapped it passed Danis.
Kevin Bieksa made a beautiful move to set-up the Moose fourth goal, again on the powerplay, at 12:47 of the second. He took the puck just outside of the blue line, deked through two would-be checks and slipped a great pass across the slot to Alexandre Burrows, who deposited his second of the game.
Manitoba kept the goal train rolling late in the first as Burrows slipped a pretty feed from the right boards across the slot and onto the tape of Josh Green who redirected it in.
An exciting second period finished with the Moose up 5-1 and outshooting the Bulldogs 18-13.
Hamilton got one back 11 seconds into the third as a scramble in front of the Moose zone resulted in Duncan Milroy poking home a second Bulldogs goal.
The Moose took a 5 on 3 powerplay for 1:36 early in the second as Sanford and Murray both took minor penalties. Manitoba would not get their fifth powerplay goal of the game on this occasion as Hamilton was able to kill off the minors.
Rick Rypien dropped the mitts for the second time in the game as he and Andre Benoit went at it. Rypien connected with a flurry of left hands early and then tossed Benoit to the ice. Both were given fighting majors.
Brown got his second shorthanded goal of the season at 9:26 of the third as he stole the puck at centre ice and made a beauty deke on Deslauriers for a sixth Moose goal.
Jimmy Roy gave the Moose their seventh of the game at 12:59 of the third as Skinner put a harmless looking point shot on net that Roy got a stick on to tip into the top right corner.
An entertaining game finished with the Moose pounding the Bulldogs 7-2 while outshooting them 28-18 in the process.
