Grand Rapids caught Manitoba off guard 13 seconds into the game as Bootland shot the puck on net from the right wing boards, Flaherty had trouble with the rebound and DiCasmirro flicked the puck in.

The Moose responded withing seconds of the Griffins goal as Bieksa scored off of a feed from Jaffray.

Grand Rapids recorded six shots within the first two minutes of the hockey game.

The Griffin's Jiri Hudler's point streak was extended to 14 games on the powerplay as he took a shot from the right boards that was tipped in by Manlow for a 2-1 Griffins lead.

Manitoba took their first powerplay of the game with just over seven minutes to play as Travis Richards was called for hooking. Manitoba could only set up their powerplay for ten seconds at a time before the Griffins powerplay cleared the zone. The score remained 2-1 as the penalty expired.

The Moose took another powerplay to close out the first period as Keller was sent off for holding the stick. This time they pressured Griffin's keeper Joey MacDonald with shots as Bieksa took another heavy point shot which resulted in a huge rebound that Jesse Schultz netted for a 2-2 game.

A busy first period concluded with the shots 18-10 for Grand Rapids and the score tied at two.

Flaherty was forced into a nice trapper save to start the second period as Hudler took a pass streaking in and deflected it on net.

The Griffins seemed to dominate the play midway through the second period as they led in shots 26-14.

Manitoba went on a 5 on 3 powerplay for 1:15 after Hackert was sent off for hooking and Bootland was sent off for roughing. Bieksa got his second of the goal late in the 5 on 3 advantage as he walked in from the point and rifled it past Joey MacDonald.

Jozef Balej was able to make the Griffins pay for a turnover in their own zone as Darby made a nice feed to Balej in front who snapped it past MacDonald for a fourth Manitoba goal.

Rick Rypien was shaken up and slow to the bench after taking a big hit from Kyle Quincey.

Although being outshot 16-8 in the period and 34-18 overall the Moose led 4-2 at the end of the second period.

The Moose were more than happy to keep the majority of the play in the middle of the ice as they did to start the third period.

Flaherty was forced to stand on his head to keep the Moose up two as the Griffins pressured the Moose with a half dozen shots in a row.

The Griffins wasted a great chance to get back into the game halfway through the third period as they registered only one shot in four minutes of powerplay time.

With just over nine to play the Griffins drew within one as they broke in on Flaherty 3 on 2, Oulahen fired a shot in which Flats saved but left a big rebound in the crease that Filppula was able to poke home.

Rick Rypien was given a five minute major penalty at 13:03 after he caught Manlow up high with his stick. The Griffin's shot themselves in the foot somewhat as seconds into their powerplay Kopecky took a minor tripping penalty. The teams skated four on four for two minutes of the five minute major to Rypien.

With 1:40 to go and after killing a five minute major penalty the Moose couldn't hold on as Helmer ripped a shot from the point that went off of Wade Flaherty's blocker and in to tie the game at four.

The Moose went into overtime on the powerplay after a late goaltender interference penalty to Jiri Hudler.

Grand Rapids had the majority of chance in the overtime period with three good chances with Flaherty making key saves.

With 20 seconds to play Manitoba broke out 3 on 1 but were turned away by a nice Joey MacDonald glove save.

With Bieksa missing for the Moose on the fifth shot of the game, Fillpula made a nice move and beat Wade Flaherty for the Grand Rapid's shootout victory.
