Brandon Nolan had the first good chance of the game for the Moose as he caught the Barons on a poor line change. He snuck down the right wing a snapped a quick shot that Holden turned away.

Jimmy Roy was shaken up early after he was caught with a big hit coming across the middle by a Barons defencemen.

The Barons controlled the puck in the Moose zone with 12 minutes to play as Cleveland's Olson came close to tipping in a shot from the corner but McVicar was up to the challenge.

Manitoba took went on the penalty kill with just over 11 minutes to play after Nathan Smith was called for goaltender interference. The Barons peppered McVicar with a couple of big drives from the point that McVicar turned away.

Rissmiller forced McVicar into a huge save to keep the game scoreless as he undressed Jason Doig with a pretty dangle and put quick wrist shot on net.

A scoreless first period finished with the Barons outshooting the Moose 13-6.

Grant Stevenson took the Barons up one 55 second into the second period on a great individual effort as he used his speed to get past the Moose defence and slide it underneath a sliding Rob McVicar.

The Moose tied things up on the powerplay with just over five minutes played in the second as Butenschon got his fifth goal of the season on a point shot through traffic.

Minutes later the Moose took their fourth powerplay of the game setting up a beautiful tic-tac-toe play in the Baron's zone as Jesse Schultz took a nice pass from Jaffray behind the net and ripped a shot just under the cross bar for his third goal in two games.

Rob McVicar came up huge for the Moose as Brett Skinner turned it over in the Moose zone which allowed Grant Stevenson to have an open look out in front of the Moose goal, but McVicar made the save of the game to keep the Moose lead alive.

The Barons took their second powerplay of the game late in the second period after Craig Darby was called for hooking. On the ensuing powerplay the Barons went on a 5-3 advantage for 20 seconds as Skinner was called for hooking. The Barons moved quickly with seconds to play in the period fighting for an equalizer, but the buzzer sounded with the score remaining 2-1 and the shots 20-14 for the Barons.

The Barons started the second period on the powerplay as they controlled the puck in Manitoba's zone. Grant Stevenson took the puck in the left corner, walked out in front and took three whacks at the puck before it trickled in for his second of the night.

Nathan Smith gave the Barons their fourth powerplay of the night at the 4:20 mark of the third period after Nathan Smith was given a minor roughing penalty. Sven Butenschon did a great job forechecking on the penalty kill controlling the puck deep in the Baron's zone not allowing them to get anything going on the powerplay.

The first fight of the game came after James DeMone hit Valette from behind in the Baron's corner which Staubitz took exception to and the two dropped the mitts. The fight was more of a wrestling match as the two did more grabbing then punching. DeMone was given a two minute boarding penalty as well as the five minute fighting major. Things were evened up as Staubitz was given an extra instigating penalty.

Grant Stevenson gained his third point of the night, this time as an assist, as he chased down the puck in the Moose corner and threw it out in front to a wide open Prudden who put away the go ahead goal.

The Moose had a great chance to even the game up as they went on a 5 on 3 advantage for two minutes with four minutes to play in regulation. Valette was given a five minute major for a high stick on Burrows and Armstrong was given a two minute interference penalty.

With the Moose on the powerplay for the remainder of regulation they peppered Jamie Holden with a flurry of shots but couldn't develop a major scoring chance with the 5 on 3 advantage. Then with 1:38 to play McVicar's clearing attempt went wrong as he caught Armstrong with his stick on the follow through.

The Moose pulled McVicar with just over a minute to play, they threw everything they had at Holden in the remaining seconds but couldn't gather an equalizer as they dropped their third straight one goal game.

Note: Alexandre Burrows was taken to the locker room after the Armstrong high stick.
