The Moose started the game by dominating the play, recording the first three shots on net and controlling the puck.
Matthew Spiller of the Rampage took the first penalty for interference at 2:32. 13 seconds Gainey stole the puck and broke in shorthanded forcing Burrows into a hooking penalty.
Things got heated after the whistle as Mike Brown and San Antonio's Jackman dropped the mitts. Brown got four good quick shots in right off the start that overwhelmed Jackman. Jackman tried to hold Brown off, who delivered two more quick punches before the two fell to the ice. Both were assessed five minute fighting penalties.
The Rampage took their third powerplay of the game as Randall Gelech was able to cut across towards the goal forcing Nathan Smith to take a hooking penalty. The Rampage
had a great chance to get on the scoresheet as the Rampage's leading scorer Steve Gainey had a wide open net on a rebound, but Butenschon was there to get a stick on it and deflect it wide.
The Moose took a 1-0 lead on the powerplay with 38 seconds to play in the first period as Brett Skinner grabbed a huge rebound off a Jesse Schultz shot and put it into the left corner.
The first period finished with the shots 11-5 and the score 1-0 both in favor of the Moose.
The Moose came out shooting in the second period as Jozef Balej handled a saucer pass in between the hash marks and took a quick shot hitting Boucher right in the mid section.
The Moose looked to capitalize on their third powerplay of the game after Lance Monych was sent off for boarding. Sven Butenschon took the puck off of the boards in the Rampage zone, brought it back to the middle of the ice and ripped a slap shot from the point beating Boucher who was screened in front.
At 13:67 of the second James DeMone was given a five minute major for fighting and a game misconduct after taking an elbow from Tim Jackman and then jumping on top of Jackman and continuing to punch him in the back of the head. Jackman could do nothing but cover his head as Demone fed him shot after shot.
On the ensueing powerplay the Rampage couldn't get anything going as they looked to get on the scoresheet. Tim Jackman did no help the cause as he was given a minor for holding the stick. The teams played four on four hockey for just under two minutes as Nolan served the DeMone major.
With 19 seconds to play in the second Nathan Smith put the Rampage on another powerplay after taking a holding penalty. The second period ended with the score 2-0 and the shots 15 to 12 Moose.
The Rampage came out in the third on the powerplay with Smith still in the penalty box. San Antonio had a couple quick shots as they controlled the Moose zone that Flaherty turned away with ease.
San Antonio worked hard at even strength to keep the puck in the Moose zone not allowing the Moose to clear the zone and get fresh legs on the ice. Layne Ulmer had a great chance as he walked out from behind the net and tried to stuff the puck passed Flaherty. Flaherty held his ground and the puck was cleared.
The Moose looked for their third powerplay goal of the game as they went on their fifth powerplay after a holding the stick minor to Monych. The Moose controlled the puck in the Rampage zone for the majority of the powerplay passing the puck around nicely and firing a half dozen quality shots on goal.
With under five minutes to play, the Rampage continued to shoot themselves in the foot as they took three penalties in just over two minutes giving the Moose a 5 on 3 advantage. Burrows had a great chance with the advantage as he walked in from the point and ripped a shot off the right shoulder of Passmore and just wide. The penalties expired with the Moose unable to do any more damage.
The Rampage pulled their goalie with just over one minute to play pressuring the Moose in their zone. The Rampage were unable to muster a good scoring chance with the extra attacker and time expired giving Wade Flaherty his third shutout of the season.
