The first period started off much like last night's game, with both teams trying to get into the groove of the game. Thie first shot came from Peoria with over two and a half minutes gone in the period.

Manitoba took the first powerplay of the game as Doug Lynch was sent off for interference after a hit on Jesse Schultz. Jozef Balej missed putting the Moose up one by an inch, as he streaked down the left wing and fired a wrist shot off the right post.

With seven minutes to played in the first, Jimmy Roy dropped the mitts with D.J King, who injured Gustav Engman on a huge hit in the third period of last night's action. The two men exchanged quick shots without either delivering a key blow. King took Roy down and the linesman broke it up. Both were assessed five penalties at 6:08.

The Moose had a great chance on the powerplay as Josh Green and Jozef Balej worked a pretty two on one. Green slid a perfect pass across but Balej couldn't lift it over a sliding Curtis Sanford, who stacked the pads to make a nice save.

With 9:30 to play in the first Peoria was outshooting the Moose 7-2.

Peoria struck first with a delayed penalty looming, as Mike Glumac took a quick point shot that ricochet off of McVicar's blocker and into the top right corner.

Manitoba just missed a great chance to equalize at the end of the first, as the a shot rebounded off of the glass behind the goal and fell to Rick Rypien right in front of the net. Rypien swung and missed the bouncing puck and Peoria cleared the zone.

Peoria netted a second goal with 1.8 seconds to play in the first. A point shot from Mike Mottau was tipped in by Jon DiSalvatore for his first of the season.

At the end of the first the score was 2-0 and the shots were 12-6 both in favor of the Rivermen.

Peoria started off the second period by getting into major penalty trouble. Wideman, Morgan and Buckley each took minor penalties within three minutes of each other. As soon as the first penalty to Wideman expired the Rivermen were then caught with too many men on the ice resulting in another two minute minor.

On the ensuing powerplay the Moose blistered shot after shot on Peoria goalie Curtis Sanford but could not beat the netminder. The best chance came on a point shot from Maxime Fortunus who beat Sanford, but couldnt beat the right iron.

With six minutes gone the shots were 12-11 Peoria.

The second period seemed to fly by with no whistles for minutes at a time. With four minutes to play the shots were 16-13 in favor of Peoria.

The period closed out with an interference penalty called on Maxime Fortunus putting Peoria on the powerplay to start the third.

Peoria came quick in the third, up a man with the penalty to Fortunus, the Rivermen worked the puck around the Moose zone. Whitfield made a strong pass to Glumac in front, who redirected it past McVicar for a third Peoria goal.

With four minutes gone in the third, things began to get physical as once again D.J King was in the action. King and Jeff Smith exchanged words and shoves. Both were given two minute minor penalties and ten minute misconducts.

With 12 minutes to play in the period, the Rivermen outshot the Moose 24-15.

With just under seven minutes to play Peoria went on their fifth powerplay of the game after newly required Christian Chartier was called for holding. Peoria almost notched a forth goal after McVicar gave up a big rebound that fell right on the blade n Trent Whitfield who hammered it just over the bar.

Brendan Brooks put Peoria up four as he skated hard down the right wing and hammered a slap shot just over the right shoulder of Rob McVicar.

A disappointing performance by the Moose finished with a quick scrap between Peoria's Dennis Wideman and Manitoba's Mike Brown.

The game finished with the score at 4-0 and the shots at 30-16 in favor of Peoria.
