The Admirals came out running in their home opener, as Vernon Fidler tested Flaherty early streaking down the right wing and snapping a shot off the shoulder of Wade Flaherty.

Moose veteran Mike Keane took a hooking penalty with about four minutes gone in the first, putting the Admirals on their first powerplay of the game. The Admirals worked the puck around nicely in the Moose zone, they took three quick shots in which Flaherty turned away keeping the score at zeros.

Flaherty was tested again as Scottie Upshall streaked in from the right wing, firing a quick shot in which Flaherty turned away and Manitoba cleared the zone.

The Moose took their second powerplay of the game as T.J. Reynolds was sent off for boarding. This powerplay only lasted for 18 seconds however, when Jesse Schultz was sent off for interference.

Rypien started the physical play as he caught the Admiral's Timofei Shishkanov looking the other way and laid him out at the Moose blue line.

The Moose had their best chance of the game with a minute left in the first, as Josh Green snuck down the right wing and cut in on Pekka Rinne, trying to go up and over the Milwaukee goalie. Rinne stacked the pads and made his best save of the night.

Brett Skinner took a hooking penalty with two minutes gone in the second, trying to stop Vernon Fiddler as he was streaking down the middle attempting a shot on Flaherty. Flaherty was tested early on the Admirals powerplay as Shea Weber took a blast from the point, that was almost whacked home on a second and third rebound.

The best chance for the Moose to go up a goal came on a two on one, as Green kept and snapped a quick shot, far post, that was stopped by the right pad of Pekka Rinne, who made a terrific save.

Things got heated up after a scramble in front of the Admirals goal, T.J. Reynolds took an interference penalty as he cleared Brandon Nolan out of the front of the net. A small scrum followed after the whistle.

Prestin Ryan was shaken up midway through the second after he was checked face first into the glass. Ryan was escorted to the dressing room. Minutes later Zanon was given two minutes for elbowing as he caught Burrows coming straight across the middle.

With five minutes to play the shots were 19 to 17 in Milwaukee's favor.

Manitoba didn't do themselves any favors at the end of the second period taking three penalties in a row. Looking tired from the penalty kill, the Admirals dominated the play, firing shot after shot on Flaherty who continued to look stong between the pipes. A scoreless second concluded with the shots 24-11 in favor of Milwaukee.

The Moose went up 1-0 after Burrows took a pass across the face of the goal from Balej and put it home to take the lead.

The Admiral's Scottie Upshall almost made it 1-1 as he was sent in alone. Flaherty was up to the challenge as he stacked the pad to maintain the Moose lead.

The Moose almost went up two on a transition play as again it was Burrows streaking in on Admiral's goalie Pekka Rinne, but was flipped the puck just wide of the left post.

With just over a minute to play in the game the Admirals controlled the zone, they passed the puck around nicely but it was veteran Mike Keane who layed out to block a big point shot and seal the victory for the Moose.
