The penalties began early in Peoria, as the Rivermen were called for too many men after just 30 seconds gone. The Moose looked for an early goal controlling the play in Peoria's zone but could not come up with a decent shot or scoring opportunity.

Contrary to last night's game which was filled with stoppages from penalties and which had plenty of scoring opportunities, this game seemed relatively quiet, with few shots on goal, and stoppages only for offsides and icing.

The first good scoring opportunity came after Peoria's Rocky Thompson was given a tripping penalty and sent off for two minutes. The Moose passed the puck nicely in Peoria's zone, as Green recieved a pass from the point in at the left side of the goal but missed the net by about a foot.

With eight minutes to play the teams had recorded a total of only 7 shots between them.

Peoria went on their first powerplay of the game at 14:58 of the first period when Nathan Smith was sent off for cross-checking. Peoria looked to go up one as the passed the puck around in the Moose zone, but with one sloppy pass after another the Rivermen could not get anything started.

But, soon after the powerplay had expired, the Rivermen were able to get a quick shot on net, which Flaherty turned away giving up a rebound to Charles Linlet who took two whacks at the puck and was succesful on the second attempt.

The second period started with Peoria on the powerplay, however they could not get anything started on this attempt, as the penalty expired.

Things started getting physical as Mike Brown had his head down coming across the middle and was creamed by Peoria's Doug Lynch.

After Mojzis was sent to the penalty box, Peoria was on the powerplay but it was Jimmy Roy who picked up a loose puck at centre ice and broke in on a quick break. He snapped a quick shot which could not find the net and sailed wide to the left.

With 6:40 played in the second, Peoria's Blumac made use of the non exisent two line pass rule, as he recieved a great long pass to send him in alone. Blumac made a nice deke to the left but Flaherty made an even nicer pad save.

The Moose took a 5-3 advantage after Wideman was sent off first for elbowing and later Lynch was sent off. The Moose could only record three shots on this great opportunity with no major scoring chance, the score remaining 1-0 Rivermen.

A scoreless second period concluded with a great scoring opportunity for the Moose. With 2:27 to play Wideman gave up the puck in Peoria's zone but Peoria were saved by the crossbar as a Moose shot rang off the iron.

At 2:15 of the third period the Moose went on their sixth powerplay of the night after Peoria's Peter Senja took his second penalty in a row. Moments later DiSalvatore was called for a penalty putting the Moose on a 5-3 powerplay for 1:42. With their best opportunity to tie up the game the Moose's Tomas Mojzis walked into the high slot uncontested and wristed a quick shot to tie the game at one.

The Peoria Rivermen went up 2-1 after a scramble in front in which Mike Glumac had three shots in a row from in close and whacked home the goal after the Moose defence couldn't clear the puck.

With five minutes to play the gameplay started to look a bit sloppy with many unsuccessful passes and no real scoring opportunities. This could be expected from Peoria who had played three games in as many nights, and the Moose on their second in a row.

The Moose had a great opportunity to tie with the man advantage as Burrows gloved down a rebound from in front but never really got a handle on the puck as the Rivermen defencemen swarmed.

The Moose didn't give themselves much of a chance to win as Rypien took a charging penalty at 18:16 putting them down a man for the rest of the game. Moments later they shot themselves square in the foot again when newly acquired Jozef Balej took a boarding penalty that pretty much sealed the fate for the Moose.
