Lee Goren, Ryan Kesler and Josh Green each scored within a four-minute span late in the third period to rally the Moose to a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Barons Tuesday night.

Alex Auld found himself as the starter in goal tonight, returning to the Moose after backstopping Canada to a third-place finish at the Spengler Cup.

Cleveland had the best scoring opportunity early. An errant puck looked to be heading towards the far corner of the net but Alex Auld was able to stretch and get a toe on it.

Manitoba received the game's first powerplay after Ryan Kesler was slashed by Cleveland's Ryane Clowe.

On the ensuing man advantage, Jason King had an opportunity to score the game's first goal when he received a Peter Sarno pass in front. King tried to go around Barons netminder Nolan Schaefer but lost a handle on the puck.

After one period, the game was tied 0-0 but the Moose had an 8-3 edge in shots.

An early second period powerplay for the Moose led to a number of great chances, but the home side was unable to convert. Peter Sarno had a great chance from the slot but Schaefer stopped him.

Cleveland came right back with a goal of their own after killing the penalty. Jim Fahey one-timed a drop pass that just snuck in under the crossbar behind Auld to make it 1-0.

The Moose continued to take the play to the Barons but Schaefer kept turning shots away. Jeff Heerema's backhander from the side of the crease was easily stopped by the Cleveland netminder.

With 40.6 seconds to play in the middle frame, Christian Ehrhoff ripped a point shot that eluded a screened Alex Auld and made it 2-0 Barons. The goal came on a powerplay with Sarno in the box for high sticking.

After two periods, Cleveland had a 2-0 lead despite a 20-12 shot advantage for the home side.

Early in the third, Jason King danced around a Cleveland defender to break in alone on Schaefer but was unable to get a handle on the puck in close to get off a good scoring chance.

Midway through the period, the crowd erupted as the final seconds of Team Canada's Gold Medal victory were shown on the centre hung video screen.

Coach Randy Carlyle started mixing up his lines as the third period reached its latter stages in an attempt to spark his club. Goren was double shifted, playing with Sarno and Nolan as well as Kesler and King.

The line juggling paid off, as Goren was able to pick up a rebound at the side of the net during a mad scramble and stuff it past Schaefer. DiPenta blasted the initial point shot and King also jammed away at the puck from in close.

Just under three minutes later, Ryan Kesler scored to tie the game up 2-2. Kesler knocked down the puck and backhanded it in from just outside the Cleveland crease.

That set the stage for Josh Green's heroics. Green received a pass from Sarno at the side of the net and lifted it over Schaefer to give the Moose their first and final lead of the night.
